EMOTORAD
EMotorad is a relatively new player in the e-bike world, founded in 2020 in Pune, India by Rajib Gangopadhyay, Kunal Gupta, Aditya Oza, and Sumedh Battewar. Its origin story is rooted in the founders’ shared belief in electric mobility and their earlier experiences in consulting, operations, and mobility startup work.
What makes EMotorad interesting is how fast it scaled: in just a few years, it has built a presence in 18-plus countries, developed a network of dealers across India, invested in in-house technology (battery, motor, displays etc.), and is developing a large gigafactory to increase production capacity dramatically.
Here’s a fun twist: one of their early bikes—the EMX—was among India’s first dual-suspension e-cycles, launched when many e-bikes were still just rigid frames. Also, the brand is backed publicly by big names and has attracted celebrity investors (like MS Dhoni) and a strong community of riders worldwide.
